Small Happiness Calendar Letter_October

There are many special days in October in Korea. One of them is Hanbok Day on October 21st. Hanbok is the traditional ethnic Korean clothing style that has been handed down since long ago.

There are various accessories used along with Hanbok, and we would like to introduce a norigae, an accessory that goes well with colorful Hanbok.

A norigae is a decorative pendant that can be hung on the strings of a woman's upper garment or the skirt of Hanbok. Among the many patterns used for norigae, bats are believed to bring five blessings (longevity, wealth, health, love of virtue, and a peaceful death) and butterflies are believed to bring good luck as they symbolize joy and happiness.

Do you remember BOJ's Beauty in Relief: “Soul Sounds” campaign? The bojagi included in the “Soul Sounds” box also used an orange butterfly norigae. In order to deliver a happy message once again, BOJ drew that same norigae in this illustration. We hope that this norigae brings you good luck and a lifetime full of joy.
