Please introduce yourself to the BOJ community

Hello! My name is Stefanie Michova and I am originally from Munich, Germany. I’ve been living in Korea for the past five years with my husband and two doggies.

My professional background includes modeling, acting, and photography. Additionally, for the past two years, I have been studying traditional Korean alcohol fermentation.

How did your love for makgeolli begin?

There are many interesting aspects of Korean culture, but my fascination with makgeolli making started with the hands-on brewing process. I’ve always been drawn to creating things with my own hands, and the combination of craft and history really intrigued me.

Plus, there’s nothing like sharing a cup of refreshing home-brewed makgeolli with family and friends—it just brings everyone closer together.

What made you want to collaborate with BOJ, and how was your experience so far?

My collaboration with Beauty of Joseon came about naturally from our shared commitment to celebrating and revitalizing traditional Korean practices. Just as I honor ancient recipes in my makgeolli making, BOJ infuses historical wisdom into modern skincare. When the opportunity arose to develop a Ground Rice and Honey Glow Mask, a product that complements both our passions for natural, effective ingredients rooted in the Joseon dynasty, it felt like the perfect match.

Working together has been a fantastic experience; it’s inspiring to see our shared values come to life in a product that bridges the past with the present.

What does your daily skincare routine look like?

My daily skincare routine is quite simple; I believe in keeping it streamlined yet effective. Although I enjoy experimenting with new products, once I find something I love, it becomes a staple in my routine for a long time.

A perfect example is the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen—it’s a product I find myself recommending to everyone I know. I’m really excited about our new rice mask, and I hope it becomes a cherished part of your skincare routine as well.

Any messages you want to convey through the mask?

With Ground Rice and Honey Glow Mask, I want to share the philosophy that the process of brewing makgeolli is not much different from a skincare routine. Both require patience, care, and a deep understanding of the ingredients and their effects. Just as makgeolli is crafted with a meticulous balance of ingredients to achieve its unique flavor and health benefits, effective skincare products are formulated with precision to nourish and rejuvenate the skin.

Through this product, I hope to blend these worlds, showcasing how traditional practices can enrich our modern lives.
